Black Rhino Radio moves forward with the second residency at Club Control on October 18, this time inviting Kebra Ethiopia all the way from South Africa. Coming for the first time in Romania, Kebra Ethiopia brings a unique approach to reggae, dub and sound system culture. The session will be amplified by the local Riddim Bandits Sound System with their hand built 6 scoop sound.South Africa has an impressive reggae sound system scene, with an history spanning over four decades. Most interesting, this scene little-known even in South Africa has developed without any direct influence from Jamaica or the UK. It has always been more-or-less self-sufficient.
Kebra Ethiopia is one of the country’s leading sound systems and is run by selector and operator Doc Inity who made a relevant contribution to the local community. Kebra Ethiopia (glory to Africa) sound system plays reggae music that concerns socio-economic issues, ghetto living, equality, Rastafari livity, and pan-African teachings in community parks or township streets of Johannesburg. They hold monthly events as a form of ‘community self-care. And the music serves as a social commentary.
